Theia is many things: a knower of all Disney knowledge, wearer of fantastic earrings, and above all else, the excellent Vice-President of our organisation.
There is plenty more to know about her, so go on and get reading – she wrote it just for you. And, if you haven’t checked out our profile on our President, Jarred, then what have you been doing with your life?
What do I do as VP?
I’m essentially the President’s right-hand person and support system. I assist with managing the Executive team, providing mentoring and guidance to the business development side of the organisation and looking for individual and organisational growth opportunities. I mainly work with the Secretary, Treasurer, Human Resources and Communications Directors this year.
Let’s talk about me.
I was born in the Philippines and have grown up in both New Zealand and Australia. I enjoy long walks on the beach, pina colada, and getting caught in the rain – except I don’t because wet socks are the worst. I’m 19 years old and have a plethora of hobbies – definitely talk to me about Quentin Tarantino/Wes Anderson/Baz Luhrmann films, travelling, fashion and the 2016 US Presidential Election.
I’ve been involved with IMPACT since 2015: I was originally the Marketing Fellow, then the Communications Director and now I’m here. Literally started from the bottom, now we here – I think Drake said that?
If I was given $5,000, what would I do with it?
Look, I want to be super selfless and say I’d donate it all to charity – but I’d be lying to myself. I’ve always wanted to go to the Middle East, so I figure why not be a good person and quench that thirst for curiosity at the same time? With that kind of moolah, I’d go to the refugee camps in Jordan for a few weeks and teach refugee children English.
When did I last sing to myself?
I (attempt) to rap this song every morning, it’s like my version of other people’s morning prayers: ‘Alphabet Aerobics’ by Blackalicious.
What’s most important in my life?
Family, friends, integrity, and courage. When I say courage, I don’t mean like those big acts of bravery – I mean smaller acts of courage too. Like the courage to speak out on things you’re passionate about, the courage to try new things, ja feel?
I encourage all IMPACT members to be courageous this year – share their ideas, share their concerns, try that thing that they’re hesitant to try and I promise it pays off. All it really takes is 20 seconds of insane courage to conquer that fear.
What am I loving with IMPACT this year?
I think I’ve said this to many people, but I really do think that this year is an exciting time for IMPACT.
We’re in a good position to try new things and really get innovative, and it has been so exciting to watch this throughout the year and for the rest of it!
